By Ray McGovern
June 22, 2010

Journalist Michael Hastings has given Rolling Stone magazine a graphic account of the arrogance, disarray and ineptitude that distinguish what passes for President Barack Obama’s policy on Afghanistan. For those of us with some gray in our hair, the fiasco is infuriatingly reminiscent of Vietnam.

I wish I could disagree that McChrystal should be fired --- most everything else you say is BS --- but I can't.

He's right ... and should still probably be fired.

Mr. McGovern,
Thank you for your courage and patriotism in that you feel that the truth and that American citizens have a right to the truth of what their government is doing is essential in fulfilling their responsibility as a US citizen.

My disgust with Mr. Obama , because of this article is less reactionary and the light of your article helps me to make SOME sense of what the hell is going on
Please continue to educate and inform...There is not a whole lot of light being shined on anything at this point. Once again thank you for your service to this country...

Well, it seems that Obama has opted for a Lyndon Johnson solution by rearranging the Generals on the Titanic. McChrystal is out and replaced BY Petraeus. Tweedledee takes over from Tweedledum and the Dance of Death continues. Meanwhile, a new grave is being dug in the "Graveyard of Empires" with a new tombstone and the name USA on it. It will join Russia, Britain, Persia and all the rest whose Ships of State went hard aground on the rocks of Afghanistan.
