The Right's Power of Media Money

By Robert Parry
December 2, 2010

In assessing what went wrong with the U.S. political process over the past few decades, it’s easy to see the broad outlines of the right-wing Republican ascendancy and the liberal-left Democratic decline, an imbalance that has now left the nation incapable of doing much besides waging endless wars, bailing out too-big-to-fail banks, slashing taxes for the rich, and running massive deficits.

Read on.

I've been attempting to make this case to the "Left" and "Progressives" for many years now - Robert Parry is one of the Best Journalists in the world and he makes a compelling case. Check out the work he's done with Robert Kennedy Jr. on the Republican's Election Theft machine that they put in place under Bush - specifically, the "middle-man servers" that the electronic voting machine results get sent to for final tabulation, with no ability to check or retrieve that data.

Both the servers and the voting machines are owned and operated by Republican political operatives, etc. Now combine that with the Tea Party thuggery and intimidation tactics, the right wing media and money, etc...

You fake-ass Lefty Progressives better wake up, cancel your flights to Amsterdam to protest the next "G8 Summit," or Brussels to hurl invectives at the conveners of the next meeting of "Transnational Capital" and cease your fire on Obama and the Democrats because they're NOT socialists, roll up your sleeves, and get ready to get down for real - in the REAL world of electoral and legislative politics etc. and the REAL world of confronting the fascist RepubliKlan Tea Party and their militia, birther, deather, mobs...

Stop acting like your ilk did during the Weimar Republic. They did the same thing in the early 1930s in Germany as YOU"VE been doing here...ceding the ground to the Nazis because Weimar wasn't Really socialist... Wake up and smell the formaldehyde on your breath!

Barack Obama has been a major disappointment as president. We all know he has capitulated to the Republicans over and over again.

I wish he were different. I wish Obama was the man we thought he was when we elected him.

But he's not. However, I will vote for him with no hesitation in 2012 and I urge everyone to do so.

Why? Because Barack Obama is the ONLY thing standing between us and Fascism.

If we allow our disappointment with Obama to keep us from coming out and voting, the Republicans will then have the Congress, the Supreme Court AND the White House.

There will be absolutely no brakes on their power and they will grind all opposition into the dust while they increase the "National Security State", eliminate Social Security and Medicare and turn us into a country where a small handful of wealthy plutocrats rule the rest of us.

Like it or not, Barack Obama, for all of his limitations, and his reluctance to fight, is the only thing standing between us and Fascism---and I don't use that word lightly.

We must stand behind Obama, force him to stand up and put some steel in his spine, and keep Fascism from overtaking our country.

I have been talking and talking about the control of the media and how it is bringing down our democracy. I don't have a clue what to do about it and would love suggestions. I am ready to put on my lol tennis shoes and get moving

Some CM pundits are suggesting Obama to forget about the left and instead position himself as a center-right man, that which he's actually doing, in order to regain some of the lost ground, and maybe with the CM help win a second term.
