Afghan War Hawks Strike Again

The announcement by U.S. Deputy Undersecretary of Defense Michele Flournoy in congressional testimony that the United States would continue to carry out "counter-terrorism operations" from "joint bases" in Afghanistan well beyond 2014 signaled that President Barack Obama has given up the negotiating flexibility he would need to reach a peace agreement with the Taliban leadership.

Why oh why does the USA think it can rule the world and ensure,with the help of Israel, that peace is NEVER an option on the table? There was never any reason for USA to invade and occupy a country because it claimed that country's government welcomed an alleged terrorist (never found). The Afghan population had no part in the 9/11 disaster, and deserve to be treated as humans with needs, not as a people to be lorded over for ever.
