There is universal agreement that the events of Sept. 11, 2001 altered the course of history. However, the response of the Bush administration to 9/11 eventually had a far greater impact than the original tragedy.
Seen in that light, Oct. 14, 2001 was an even more momentous day.

I've got to say that I think you are in error to classify Bush's rejection of the Taliban's offer as an "blunder" - it was intentional and all the consequences of that action were also intended.
The truth of all of Bush's "blunders" is far more closely related to extortion profiteering and organized crime than to proper conduct of a war - Bush's "incompetence" is merely his cover. Never forget: even his own mother calls him, "stupid like a fox."
