By Lynne Gillooly

My name is Lynne and I am a 52-year-old basketball-playing Hockey Mom. I own a small business and have four children. Until 1999, I was an Independent voter. I voted for R. Reagan and Bush 41, but not for Bush 43.

You would think the Right would be screaming for the reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine since they're the ones who keep saying "Liberal Media" or "Liberal Bias." I have yet to hear anyone call them out on that.

Lynn, I loved your story. Those people, including Rush, are cowards hiding behind their microphones and their mute buttons.

I'm sure she regretted the invitation as soon as it came out of her mouth. She would actually have to confront someone, and there would be no mute button. So don't hold your breath waiting.

In the meantime, keep writing on sites like this. We need all the help we can get. There's a war on right now, and the Wingers think they're winning. We have to show them that we're out there in full force to stop them.

I love the idea of liberals on the move, but we get lost in the crowd sometimes. I'm a writer and I started my blog on Inauguration Day. I spend more time trying to get people to come to my site than I do putting it together. But if enough of us raise our voices all across this country, pretty soon people have to start listening.

Good luck, and let us know if you ever get the invite!

That's a great story, Lynne! It's also oddly familiar. Last year, right-wing yakker Melanie Morgan was giving CodePink hell over our demonstrations at Berkeley's Marine Recruiting Station. She challenged Medea Benjamin, one of CodePink's founders, to a debate. Medea readily agreed, and it was on - we thought. But she announced on the air that she had certain demands and the morning of, she declared that we'd refused to meet her demands. What she didn't announce was what those "demands" were, and the fact that she refused to tell CodePink what they were!

Just as I said, Alice. They're all cowards in the end. That's why they have no audience, and why they hide behind a microphone and only come out when they can be sure they're among their own kind.
