I'm one of those Ayn Rand loving Tea Partiers, and I couldn't agree more. The rights of the individual do indeed clash with Christianity (and with all religions).

Where we differ is only in which side is rational and right.

Ayn Rand did not oppose altruism because it is an 'expression of weakness', but because it is immoral to sacrifice a greater value for a lesser value. In a free society one may be as altruistic as one pleases, but one may not force others to be altruistic at the point of a government gun.

Read the 'Ethics' and 'On the Improvement of Human Understanding' of Spinoza before blabbering about "reason" and 'moral values".
His works began the modern march of philosophy to the enlightenment and freedom of thought.
Spinoza was vilified, hated, condemned and excommunicated for his ideas. He has since been esteemed as the most saintly and exalted of philosophers.
Jesus was a Jew, a pre-Christian converted by politics into a icon of religious control.
Spinoza could never become the apostle of reason or idolatry. Belief and faith are not the source of knowledge the Jesuits would have us believe. Virtue does not require a diving authority.
Conviction is a natural process of the limbic system, not the cerebrum.
