One intelligence source told me that Joint Chiefs chairman, Gen. Peter Pace, has explored the possibility of resigning if Bush presses forward with air attacks against Iran, a war strategy that might be done in coordination with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

Excellent article, as usual. We reported this several weeks ago as well, and pleaded with the public to STOP HIM BEFORE HE KILLS MORE.

Imagine 'Seven Days in May' . . . in reverse!

If military commanders thought an attack on Iran was the work of a President who is too bellicose, totally unaware of the consequences on the ground, and indifferent to the damage such an action would have on the welfare of the military (as has been the case in Iraq), would they mutiny in order NOT to attack?

Sadly, senior military commanders would probably be too honourable to defy an order from the CIC, and they would allow the attack to commence, despite the certain knowledge that in doing so they're doing greater harm to the US than to the target.
