By Rabbi Michael Lerner

Going to a prostitute is legal in some states and some countries around the world, and is often the very arrangement that saves families from splitting up whose sexual energies have diminished but whose love is intact.

Thank you for running this. Rabbi Lerner makes a powerful case for a truer system of public morality. It's depressing that so many people don't find what we're doing in Iraq or to our environment or to our poor obscene.

I felt Governor Spitzer was one more example of a rich man (like Jon Corzine and Michael Bloomberg) who might have put in a little more time before he bought his way into high public office. His goals were admirable, but he seemed to save his humanity for his family, and now he's hurt them most.

I appreciate all the work the fine people are doing at Consortium and will continue to read articles posted on Consortium; however, I am saddened that the editors at Consortium so easily overlook a major tenet of journalistic accuracy: correctly spelling names.

Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer's first name has just one (1) "L" in it.

Thanks for your time.

You are sooo RIGHT. So So Right. I am one American sick and tired of the hypocrisy that exists in our government. I am tired of our government forcing Democracy with a gun in one hand and money in the other. Are humans doomed to live in ignorance for eternity? With all our technological advancements and with information so readily available and yet the warmongers among us keep on keeping on. When will humans learn that peace will not come through war and profiteering? Peace will only come when decisions are made with fairness and justice at the forefront.

Spitzer is a Hypocrite. I believe he did not just buy sex but that he was involved at a higher level and I think that is why he ultimately resigned because he hopes to make the American public think that he was just a John... yeah right and my left shoe fits my right foot. I believe he used his position of authority to prosecute other prostitution rings to get rid of his competition. Make no mistake about it our elected officials are abusing their powers and the real question is How long with American's continue to look the other way? How long will American's continue to let this country be sold down the road in the name of profit. Obama is right people we have made many improvements in America but we're not done Perfecting this Union. Every American should ask themselves how the next seven generations will be better off with Nafta and with Health care and education being in horrible shape? Ask how many of the children being born today will be crushed to death by a collapsing bridge? How many children will go to school only to become sick due to Asbestos and mold? Ask yourselves American's is this what you want for your children and grandchildren? Every single one of us should be ashamed for allowing things to get to the point where our own federal government officials stands by and watches hurricanes devastate American cities and people. All while they are worried about how they look on the nightly news. Is my tie straight?
