CIA Destroyed More Torture Videos

The CIA destroyed 92 videotapes – far more than previously known – to prevent disclosure of evidence revealing how the agency’s interrogators subjected “war on terror” detainees to waterboarding and other brutal methods, according to court documents filed by the Justice Department.

If waterboarding, or other forms of harsh interrogation methods commonly considered torture under international law "worked", then why would the CIA have ever destroyed 92 videotapes that would demonstrate the life saving efficacy of such practices?

What domestic police agency would ever destroy an audio or videotape of a criminal suspect shown credibly confessing his or her own guilt?
