House Strikes Deal for Rove Testimony

By Jason Leopold
March 4, 2009

The House Judiciary Committee cut a deal with representatives of ex-President George W. Bush that will result in aides Karl Rove and Harriet Miers testifying in Congress’s long-running investigation into the firings of nine U.S. Attorneys in 2006. But the testimony, at least for the time being, will not be public.

Read on.

Thanks, Jason, for continuing to follow through so carefully on this issue.

It's troubling that Conyers' Committee had to "strike a deal" to get Rove and Miers to comply with a years-old Congressional subpoena, particularly after the case went to court and a justice decided against the (clearly bogus) claim of Executive Privilege.

I wish that Conyers would simply send the Congressional Sergeant at Arms to bring Rove-Miers to court or to jail. Period.

And that the testimony will not be public? As in the (bogus) 911 Commission Report not being made (fully) public.

I fear this is a bad deal for truth and justice.

Jason, let’s keep Guantanamo Bay open, rename it the Bush Regime Club Med, and send our best water boarders there.

Let’s fill it with our GOP war criminals and financial crooks—our Masters of the Universe.

Let’s build a special wing—the W Wing—for those outlaws, including Rove, who shredded the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law.

Congressional Democrats, grow some cojones!

The many crimes of the Bush regime are highlighted in, "The Bush League of Nations: The Coalition of the Unwilling, the Bullied and the Bribed – the GOP’s War on Iraq and America," by James A. Swanson (2008, CreateSpace Publishing, 448 pages).

I ask for nothing in return, except that you consider using it as a resource to help restore and build America. Perhaps, if you are so inclined, you will also pass along the good word. I'd appreciate that.
