By Robert Parry

Sarah Palin’s abrupt decision to resign as Alaska’s governor – and her rambling explanation – underscore again how the Republican Party over the past dozen years has put up candidates for top national offices who are unqualified or ill-suited for those sensitive positions.

Bob,
As usual you hit the nail on the head. Until we deal with the monopoly of Talk radio and media ownership we will never progress.92 percent of radio is Rush, Beck, Hannity, Savage type propaganda and they have 10's of million listeners per day.I know you do not agree with me about the Fairness Doctrine, but SOMETHING has to be done. The Republicans have become the shameful opposition. Power and control is # 1 Country be damned. Palin and Bush are exactly what the powers that be want because they can be manipulated and controlled( see Cheney)The Party is lead by Rush, which says it all.

Mrs. Palin is consistent - she quit college 5 times before getting her degree -- in journalism, ironic for someone who demonizes the press and interviews so badly.

The only position for which the Republicans seem most aptly suited is one in which theirs craniums are jammed into their ani clear up to their clavicles. And...equal opportunity skeptical cynic that I am , I must say that based the Democrats' lethargy, ineptitude and continuation of so many of the failed Bush policies, and appointments of so many of the same phonies, failures and frauds responsible for the state we're in which we find the nation, that the "heads up the ani" approach to problem solving is hardly unique to the Republicans.
