Your assessment is entirely wrong. Why would President Obama select President Bush to be a special envoy to Haiti if there was even a hint of wrongdoing of Bush's policy toward Haiti. On the contrary, Obama was chummy with Bush while joking, smiling and putting his arm around Bush's shoulder as they walked through the White House Garden. Obama seemed very happy with his new envoy to Haiti. ----------

Anonymous, what sort of logic is that? Perhaps this is just another fig leaf Obama is trying to offer to the Republicans. Perhaps Obama doesn't know or doesn't care what Bush's previous policy towards Haiti was. Following your logic, the fact that Obama tapped Bush for the position means, ipso facto, that Bush must also be the most qualified person to handle a natural disaster, regardless of fiasco of Hurricane Katrina. Remember that?

I don't claim to know why Obama picked Bush, but I know that it is a disgrace, and anyone who was paying attention in 2004 knows that the US was instrumental in toppling the democratically elected Aristide, just as it was in toppling Aristide under the first Bush administration.
