Frontline's Timid Iraq Retrospective

By Ray McGovern
March 26, 2008

Frontline’s “Bush’s War” on PBS Monday and Tuesday evening was a nicely put-together rehash of the top players’ trickery that led to the attack on Iraq, together with the power-grabbing, back-stabbing and limitless incompetence of the occupation.

Except for an inside-the-beltway tidbit here and there – for example, about how the pitiable Secretary of State Colin Powell had to suffer so many indignities at the hands of other type-A hard chargers – Frontline added little to the discussion.

Read on.

You have a much stronger stomach than I. After just 5 minutes I had to leave, the direction was so obvious. I have lost all respect for 'frontline', too bad, they have been so creditable in the past. There just is not much left to watch, excepting Bill Moyers and a few others that still speak the truth.

You are way over the top and a nutjob. I can't believe anything that you put out. You belong in a mental institution and not out here putting out this garabage.
Anyone who can believe that Bush controls the press or that anything coming out of Rather's mouth is anywhere approaching the truth is an idiot.

I felt the same way as your article portrays while watching and waiting for the other shoe to drop. It never did. I am glad however that they did this program so that the naysayers can now see that the rest of us were right all along.

Thought the Bush's War documentary was a relatively good look at the machinations involved in the run up to this illegal and immoral invasion. A huge omission in the reporting to me was that they once again ignored the role of the 250 U.N. weapons inspectors who had been on the ground investigating every lead from every world intelligence agency for four months prior to the launch. This is a big story that is deleted from all reporting on the "intelligence failure", the major elephant in the room that puts the lie to the idea that we didn't know what weapons programs Sadaam had.

"Bush's War" was an excellent documentary as far as it went. I agree that there are many serious issues omitted. However, it already was over four hours long and remember the context in which it was created: the Bush mis-administration does have the power to kill "open information" projects and it does so frequently. I expect Frontline had to work a little magic to get this program past Patricia de Stacy Harrison, the CPB president.

For those of you who don't know about her, here's one article that shows that she is no friend of PBS: http://www.freepress.net/release/102

So back off. Use the information in the documentary to get a Democratic President and a Democratic, Republican-proof Congress elected in November. Then, as Paul Harvey says, maybe Frontline can give us "the rest of the story."

I am not joking here. We need the rest of the story brought to light so that we can put Bush and his cronies on trial in the World Court for High Crimes and Misdemeanors.

The Frontline program was a face. 9/11 was an inside job. Anybody who hasn't figured that out yet isn't paying attention. Please see Vehmgericht for a radical yet objective and fair interpretation of this issue, and much more.
