The rule of law continues to deteriorate. The consent which has bound our nation’s aim toward individual dignity and freedom is increasingly corrupted by the lack of any reasonable consequence. Our Nation is becoming that which the Founders’ sought to prevent: one based on the arbitrary and capricious exercise of power instead of being based on integrity, honesty and adherence to principles of fairness. The ultimate expression of such capriciousness is fascism.

In my opinion the rise of caprice and fascism is connected to the lack of the significant consequence of jail and taking away ill-gotten gains (fines that hurt) for actions which break the rules. If there are no consequences for failing to abide by the rules, why adhere to them in the first place? Why not be greedy, small-minded, mendacious, violent, pedantic and primitive and take as much of the carcass of society as you can carve off its rotting body and stash?

We should have jailed Nixon as we should jail all usurpers of our Constitutional Freedom. We should jail Bush, Cheney, Rove and the rest.

Censorship, detention camps, torture and death is the unfortunate, if logical, end result of such failures to act. By default, we cede power to those who hurt us and then wait until it is too late to do anything about it.

Our language has changed, our rules have changed and our culture has changed. We are not what we wish to see in the mirror. Her values distorted for lack of use, America has become perverted with nothing to balance her historic and unfair excesses.

It may be too late to change this trend. Liars prevail, cheaters prosper, tyrants walk free and those with integrity are fired, censored, jailed and killed. Guns and blow jobs can never replace trust and integrity for those who have self respect. If we don’t fight back, we will get the punishment. If we do, we may get the punishment anyway, but at least the punishment will be for having valued something and been willing to do something on its behalf.

Dred Scott vs. Sanford, March 6, 1857Chief Justice Roger B. Taney
Blacks had no rights which the white man was bound to respect; and that the negro might justly and lawfully be reduced to slavery for his benefit. He was brought and sold and treated as an ordinary article of merchandise and traffic when ever profit could be made by it. I believe allegedly John McCain and Sarah Palin are the GHOST OF Taney screaming from the grave. This is the reason why MCcain can not respect his opponent and call him "That One", "I will kick his you know what at the debate" He has such a low opinion of the Senator from Illinois simply because he is a black man.
