I wrote a furious letter to Dianne Feinstein for her arrogance in opposing Panetta's appointment. Could post here if anyone's interested.
More importantl: I hope others will join in to roast public officials who think it's safe to propose more insider crony-protected "professionals" to head a fatally corrupt and criminalized CIA.
Why does torture find its best home in CIA anyway? That in itself tells you a lot - by contrast, the military doesn't want anything to do with it...yet. peace, U60SRAD
Nine out of ten intelligence analysts agree that appointing better bureaucrats can change the nature of bureaucracy.
I'm not buying it. If the CIA answered to the President, we wouldn't have had the bloody coup of 1963.
I agree with Fordzilla. Panetta knew Cheney gave the stand down order on 9/11 so that the missile (Cheney's word, I believe) could proceed unimpeded. This is Panetta's reward for being a good team player and going along to get along.
Expecting a war criminal to prosecute the war criminals he inherited his war crimes from, requires a leap of faith that I can't take. You have a Constitutional right to your beliefs, Ray, but trying to pass them off as intelligence is rather shady.
The "lie detector" test is only 90% accurate at best but at least it's something. So it's too bad no one ever invented a "conscience detector", isn't it?
But if it had been invented, I hate to think what the results of widespread testing inside the beltway would yield right now. :(
is this some kind of joke? does any one believe this article? how romantic! at last, the sun is rising and justice will be done! THIS IS THE SAME IF NOT WORST

But what about Panetta's participation in the whitewash 9/11 Commission? That concerns me.

It sounds sort of like a toothpaste commercial:
