Martin Peretz is editor-in-chief of The New Republic, a position he acquired by simply buying the magazine in 1974. Although he resold it to a group of investors in 2002, they were, and apparently remain, his ideological soul mates for he continues to this day to be the magazine’s top editor.

There are two points which must be discussed in regard to "Religious Bigotry".
The first is that all religious beliefs are necessarily prejudices and bigoted. It is the cause and the cure for Middle East peace that it is the orthodoxy of religions which prevents the establishment of peaceful coexistence.
Secondly, the United States is now degenerating into a culture of religious bigotry with morality and ethics being imposed by political activists upon a secular state.
Cultural morality has always been the excuse for lebensraum. The use of divine authority to explain the right to land and resources follows as population of one tribe reduces arable land and wealth. In no other way would one group of humans develop xenophobia, paranoia, and the conviction that strangers are inferior animals with no right or authority to compete for survival.

Peretz has it partly right:
"Muslim life IS cheap...to Zionists"

Opperman should remember that Jewish blood is cheap. It is the avowd goal of the radical Muslim world to destroy Israel period. If Israel had not prevailed in her wars of defense, Jordan, Egypt, et al would have annihilated the Jewish State. Instead, there are peace treaties. How can you allow a so called government that does not recognize your right to exist to flourish on your border?
