Hillary's Shark-Jumping Moment

By Lisa Pease
May 24, 2008

I was no fan of theirs during their administration. And Hillary Clinton has run one of the most negative campaigns in modern history against Barack Obama, who, by contrast, has managed to stay, rather miraculously, above the fray.

Read on.

Well, I think that one of the greatest innovations on the internet right now is the site www.treehoo.com that plants trees for most of its profit. Such great and easy way to help the environment for free! Can any other webportal beat that?

Lisa, I don't think it's Hillary Clinton's ego or her fantasy that's keeping her going. I think it's neo-con central.

Since the polls were showing that the more educated were supporting Obama, and Clinton was saying lets hear from my base in W Virginia and Kentucky, was she also saying the least educated should select the next president?

I share Lisa's frustration, anger, despair. As far as this statement is concerned, I have a slightly different take: "I knew she was a climber, that the only reason she stayed with her husband after he embarrassed her in front of the world was so she could make him pay in a different way - by campaigning for her, and leveraging his connections on her behalf." I think the main reason she stayed with Bill is because as unhealthy as their marriage is, she loves the guy. Any perks that decision gave her have been a bonus, well, except for the times during her campaign that Bill has sabotaged her. This "shark-jumping moment" she has done to herself.

LISA YELLS HYSTERICALLY: She needs to go away. Forever.

Go away, forever? Sounds to me like you are advocating that someone assassinate her.

Yes, it does.

You should choose your words more carefully. You sound worse than Hillary.

Thank you Liza. The truth about Hillary with one small disagreement--she has made it perfectly clear that floating along in her mind is a desire to see Sen. Obama murdered so she can be the candidate. It is difficult for any of us to face this revolting fact. She has said it--made herself clear.
We should face this reality. Excuse me, I have to go puke.

I share your disgust of Hillary Clinton. I am an Obama supporter and have been from the start. I thought, however, if he did not get the nomination I would vote for HIllary because I thought she would be better than any other Republican. Since her degrading and dangerous comments, which by the way have been repeated in different fashion several times, I no longer want anything to do with her. She's not my pick anymore. It's Obama or no one. She sickens me. I wonder where that integrity is supposed to be hiding.

What amazes me is that loyal Democrats are still willing to sit by the sidelines of reason until political momentum and shifting winds give them "permission" to express their revulsion and shock.

As one who left the corporate two-party SYSTEM, I have understood the phoniness of this weird horserace from the beginning.

Obama, to the contrary, "does not have it all" despite rationalizations.

He is no peace or antiwar candidate. He is not for universal healthcare. He leaves his "options" open so that he can get Wall Street money. He is as a viable as a pharmaceutical commercial of yoga-practicing octogenarians smiling beatific smiles beacuse of a new pill. He is a Rorschach whose substance has been plumbed only as deep as he is willing to stay shallow.

America is broke, we have no healthy industry.

Since the Bush coup, gas prices at the pump have insured a Merry Materialistic Christmas for only oil company elites and people living off of credit because they are suckered into believing that the American Way of Life is non-negotiable.

There is no hope for us so long as we do not recognize that John, Bobby, MLK, Wellstone and others were murdered. As were 58,000+ in Vietnam-- and all those who are fighting for lies today. As were those who died on 9/11.

Journalists-- almost all of them-- have lied to us-- or been complicit by their self-serving silences.

Are we to be truly shocked by Clinton's cruel insinuations? I am shocked and thoroughly disgusted with it all!

The shark has certainly jumped... but it is still jumping.

Wow, there are so many strange comments already... Well, here goes: There is no difference between Billary, Obama(nation,) and McCorpse. You are all fooling yourselves if you think any of those three stooges are a good choice... but wait, your vote doesn't count anyways. The popular vote could be 99% for Ron Paul and he would never see office because the delegates actually do the deciding(or is it Bush?) But who are the delegates? How did they get to speak for me and you? I have never met any of them and yet they are going to choose my president whether I like it or not... I didn't vote for that. Thats not even 'Democracy,' thats fraud.

Good for Lisa Pease, saying what she did re: Mrs. Clinton's shark-jumper and more. What a relief to hear someone say it. Out loud. In bright writing. Wonderful. If there are more Lisas out there, bring 'em on.

Obama will lose in November because his supporters and surrogates are so filled with bile and hatred and have totally alienated many Democratic Party regulars.

When Obama loses, you have no one to blame but yourselves.

Thank you for saying it all, clearly and in the most straightforward way. It needed to be said in the way you have just done.

She Said What
OK Deeply admits it. He has thought of it, he has voiced it... but needless to say not while running for President and not as a reason to remain in the great fight..But rather as an honest fear that Obama was saying to much, spoke with too golden a voice, might be too charismatic...the established fat cats just might.... it would only take a Little Blackwater.

I know, Hillary did not mean it. Her little old brain just went slack... It went blank and there it was like a sleeping dim light bulb that suddenly burst into light. Assassination... Obama may be assassinated. And if someone kills him then it will be my turn, my turn. Wow... and now team Hillary says she did not mean it.

Well, Hillary does not slip up. This woman is as conniving as they come. Of course, she said it. And on purpose... what the hell why not? Some racist nut might save her candidacy or maybe one her many acolytes might act like one of John Irving's Ellen Jamesians (see the World According to Garp) You know, those crazy woman who cut their tongues out. Hey, perhaps that would not be a bad thing for Hillary!

And let's hope some kook or kookette does not get some bright idea to Save Hillary's Dreams. Those sycophants Deeply sees supporting her on TV seem nutty enough.

Lisa you are spot on. As a senior citizen, middle class, and white, who Hillary says votes for her, I'm here to prove she is wrong.

I made up my mind in giving both a chance to help me make a choice between the two, and right of the bat Hillary showed her true colors. Obama stood out like a beacon for change.

The big difference in personalities, was truth(Obama) and dishonesty(Hillary).

As a Friend of Bill's, and Hillary in the 90's I cannot believe I didn't see this coming with Hillary. I'm so over, also, both Hillary AND Bill. Seems they lost their way.
I see Obama as a Blessing for America and the world.
I feel sorry for those who cannot or will not see what a born natural Senator Obama is. The feeling of hope this man projects
is real. With Hillary we would be back in the same old Bush ways we had to endure for eight miserable
years. NO NOT THIS TIME!

Much to do about absolutely nothing. She should never have apologized. Am starting to think this site has been taken over by those 400+ paid Obama bloggers that are all over the Internet. Although, I do believe it's probably more like 4000.

From a site which has actually done an Obama reality check:

Barack Obama: Gaffe machine

Michelle Malkin
Creators Syndicate
Copyright 2008

All it takes is one gaffe to taint a Republican for life. The political establishment never let Dan Quayle live down his fateful misspelling of “potatoe.” The New York Times distorted and misreported the first President Bush’s questions about new scanner technology at a grocers’ convention to brand him permanently as out of touch.

But what about Barack Obama? The guy’s a perpetual gaffe machine. Let us count the ways, large and small, that his tongue has betrayed him throughout the campaign:

* Last May, he claimed that Kansas tornadoes killed a whopping 10,000 people: “In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.” The actual death toll: 12.

*Earlier this month in Oregon, he redrew the map of the United States: “Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go.”

*Last week, in front of a roaring Sioux Falls, South Dakota audience, Obama exulted: “Thank you Sioux City…I said it wrong. I’ve been in Iowa for too long. I’m sorry.”

*Explaining last week why he was trailing Hillary Clinton in Kentucky, Obama again botched basic geography: “Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas. So it’s not surprising that she would have an advantage in some of those states in the middle.” On what map is Arkansas closer to Kentucky than Illinois?

*Obama has as much trouble with numbers as he has with maps. Last March, on the anniversary of the Bloody Sunday march in Selma, Alabama, he claimed his parents united as a direct result of the civil rights movement:

“There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Alabama, because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born.”

Obama was born in 1961. The Selma march took place in 1965. His spokesman, Bill Burton, later explained that Obama was “speaking metaphorically about the civil rights movement as a whole.”

*Earlier this month in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Obama showed off his knowledge of the war in Afghanistan by honing in on a lack of translators: “We only have a certain number of them and if they are all in Iraq, then it’s harder for us to use them in Afghanistan.” The real reason it’s “harder for us to use them” in Afghanistan: Iraqis speak Arabic or Kurdish. The Afghanis speak Pashto, Farsi, or other non-Arabic languages.

*Over the weekend in Oregon, Obama pleaded ignorance of the decades-old, multi-billion-dollar massive Hanford nuclear waste clean-up:

“Here’s something that you will rarely hear from a politician, and that is that I’m not familiar with the Hanford, uuuuhh, site, so I don’t know exactly what’s going on there. (Applause.) Now, having said that, I promise you I’ll learn about it by the time I leave here on the ride back to the airport.”

I assume on that ride, a staffer reminded him that he’s voted on at least one defense authorization bill that addressed the “costs, schedules, and technical issues” dealing with the nation’s most contaminated nuclear waste site.

*Last March, the Chicago Tribune reported this little-noticed nugget about a fake autobiographical detail in Obama’s “Dreams from My Father:”

“Then, there’s the copy of Life magazine that Obama presents as his racial awakening at age 9. In it, he wrote, was an article and two accompanying photographs of an African-American man physically and mentally scarred by his efforts to lighten his skin. In fact, the Life article and the photographs don’t exist, say the magazine’s own historians.”

* And in perhaps the most seriously troubling set of gaffes of them all, Obama told a Portland crowd over the weekend that Iran doesn’t “pose a serious threat to us”–cluelessly arguing that “tiny countries” with small defense budgets can’t do us harm– and then promptly flip-flopped the next day, claiming, “I’ve made it clear for years that the threat from Iran is grave.”

Barack Obama–promoted by the Left and the media as an all-knowing, articulate, transcendent Messiah–is a walking, talking gaffe machine. How many more passes does he get? How many more can we afford?

Why the USA faces 4 more years of the Grand Old Party?

www.theconservativevoice.com/

Rookie United States Senators and current Democrat front runner Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. rightly took a big hit with white voters after the media focused the nation on his relationships with the likes of Rev. Jeremiah A. "God damn America" Wright, Jr. and William "I bombed the Pentagon and wish I'd done more" Ayers and a videotape of Obama telling the elite as a closed-door San Francisco fund raiser that small town Americans clung to religion and guns out of bitter over their economic circumstances was made public.

By then, however, Obama had become the front runner, as Democrats forgot that Iowa picks corn and New Hampshire (won by Hillary Rodham Clinton) picks presidents.

Since then, Hillary Clinton has won nearly all of the primaries, with the predictable exceptions of North Carolina (where blacks cast about 40% of the vote in the state's 2008 Democrat presidential primary) and Oregon (where at least a third of the voters in the state's 2008 Democrat presidential primary don't do to a church, a synagogue or a mosque to worship).

Race and gender had worked FOR Obama, as 1984 Democrat vice presidential nominee Geraldine A. Ferraro astutely noted.

Blacks overwhelmingly supported Obama, even against Hillary and despite his obvious inexperience, because he's half-black and she's all white.

Many whites were eager to show that they are not racist by backing a candidate who was eloquent, smooth and half black.

More men supported Obama because he's a man than woman supported Hillary because she's a woman (although gender was not as big an advantage for Obama as race).

NOW Obama is the candidate of chose of blacks and secular extremists.

But blacks and secular extremists still can't elect a President of the United States if the rest of the voters pay attention to the facts and vote their own values.

Hillary blew Obama away in West Virginia, winning by 41 points.

In West Virginia, blacks make up 3% of the population.

In Kentucky, Hillary triumphed by 35 points?

Does that signify that Obama was getting stronger?

No. In Kentucky, blacks make up 9% of the population.

In Kentucky, Obama won the black bloc vote, but only about a quarter of the white vote.

If the media had publicized the off-putting information about Obama BEFORE the Iowa caucuses, Obama never would have become the Democrat frontrunner and Team Clinton would have taken an insurmountable lead on the original Super Tuesday.

One Obama enthusiast emailed me that what was most important was that Obama be nominated by the Democrats. not that he win the election.

That's fine with Republicans, conservative and people who attend religious services.

Before the ugly truth about Obama became well known, Obama was generally considered to be the more formidable choice for the 2008 presidential nomination.

No longer. Bill Clinton won West Virginia, Kentucky and the Presidency, twice. Obama would not win in Florida; Hillary could. Hillary definitely is stronger in the key swing states: Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida and Michigan.

For personal political purposes, Obama has been trying to make the 2008 Democrat national convention a meeting at which only 48 of the 50 states can vote.

Floridians and Michiganders, this power playing does not amuse.

If the nominee, in Florida and Michigan, Obama will lose.

If the Democrats nominate their most extreme candidate instead of their stronger candidate, they will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

They've done it before, but not with a bi-racial nominee.

Thanks, Lisa Pease. I've never liked the Clintons either-- his bank de-regulation lead to our current 30% credit card interest rates. His war on the poor was unconscionable. She, as the senator of my district, has done nothing. But calling for Obama's assassination (3 times)is beyond the pale. Anyone who doesn't see that, is trying very hard not to do so.
For those who have put their faith in racists, good luck with that.

I love the repube trolls hanging out here taking shots from the sidelines citing phony "factoids" they learned from Fox. Keep your "Bush '04" stickers, and keep wearing your white vinyl belts and shoes. We're going to be looking for you after January! Seriously, do you think anybody in America would make a worse president than the retarded chimp now squatting in the WH.

Right on target, Lisa. Anyone quoting or citing Michelle Malkin, must be sniffing something, all of that gargabe is nothing more than projecting their failures or fantansies onto Obama.

Keep the article coming!

I think that you are the most dangerous kind of Idiot.
I have learned that people see what they want to see regardless of education, religion or race.
When I heard Hillary speak of the assasination, what I heard was a refference to the fact that he had remained in the election all the way until June and that it would have gone on even longer had he not been assasinated.
Obama supporters say "look how much money he is pulling in". I say this: I dont trust the man who has the support of voters with fat pocket books. How does Obama represent my family's best interest? He does'nt.
Look at how far Hillary has been able to run with the support of the hard working class and poor.
I am a single parent of three and on the borderline of poverty and I have donated to her campaign twice already. This is the only time in my 41 years that I have been inspired to invest my money in a candidate.
My life improved dramatically as a result of Bill's presidency and I believe it is the only reason I now can spare a few extra dollars for Hillary. Yes, I was so far below poverty when Bill was elected that I was homeless when I cast my first vote, for Bill.
If there were only one reason I had to choose a candidate from... then the reason I choose Hillary is that all these topics ie; Healthcare, that Hillary stands on have been her life's committment. Not some pandering platform invented to win an election.. like Obama has done.
But, I dont have to choose just one reason do I?
I will not follow the masses. The masses are traditionally wrong.
All we need to do is look at our history. Afterall the masses reelected Bush did'nt they.
As far as Bill and Hillary's marriage goes, that is none of my business. It's none of your business either. I see Hillary as a woman of greater strength than any I have seen in my lifetime. She is the only person in history or in my personal life that has presented herself in my eyes as being someone I look up to.
How ironic that someone should bad mouth Hillary about running a negative campaign, while issuing far more negative remarks themselves. That's the pot calling the kettle black.

"I was no fan of theirs during their administration." I agree with most everything you say, but that is a head scratcher. You, a life long Democrat, were "no fan" of the only interruption to the GOP's holding of the Whitehouse for 20 of the last 28 years? If Bill hadn't moved to the middle, there would have been no interruption in the GOP domination of the executive. The only reason any Democrat even has a chance in 2008 is that the GOP invaded Iraq on false pretenses (unsuccessfully at that), became corrupt, and has gone too far to the right on social issues. In other words, the GOP fell prey to the same corruption of power that resulted in the GOP resurgence of the 80s and 90s.

If Obama wins, and I hope he does, we all better pray that he stays firmly in the middle. If not, 2012 will be a GOP victory.

From the Los Angeles Times

Obama the 'Magic Negro'

The Illinois senator lends himself to white America's idealized, less-than-real black man.

By David Ehrenstein

L.A.-based DAVID EHRENSTEIN writes about Hollywood and politics.

March 19, 2007

AS EVERY CARBON-BASED life form on this planet surely knows, Barack Obama, the junior Democratic senator from Illinois, is running for president. Since making his announcement, there has been no end of commentary about him in all quarters — musing over his charisma and the prospect he offers of being the first African American to be elected to the White House.

But it's clear that Obama also is running for an equally important unelected office, in the province of the popular imagination — the "Magic Negro."

The Magic Negro is a figure of postmodern folk culture, coined by snarky 20th century sociologists, to explain a cultural figure who emerged in the wake of Brown vs. Board of Education. "He has no past, he simply appears one day to help the white protagonist," reads the description on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/
wiki/Magical_Negro .

He's there to assuage white "guilt" (i.e., the minimal discomfort they feel) over the role of slavery and racial segregation in American history, while replacing stereotypes of a dangerous, highly sexualized black man with a benign figure for whom interracial sexual congress holds no interest.

As might be expected, this figure is chiefly cinematic — embodied by such noted performers as Sidney Poitier, Morgan Freeman, Scatman Crothers, Michael Clarke Duncan, Will Smith and, most recently, Don Cheadle. And that's not to mention a certain basketball player whose very nickname is "Magic."

Poitier really poured on the "magic" in "Lilies of the Field" (for which he won a best actor Oscar) and "To Sir, With Love" (which, along with "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner," made him a No. 1 box-office attraction). In these films, Poitier triumphs through yeoman service to his white benefactors. "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" is particularly striking in this regard, as it posits miscegenation without evoking sex. (Talk about magic!)

The same can't quite be said of Freeman in "Driving Miss Daisy," "Seven" and the seemingly endless series of films in which he plays ersatz paterfamilias to a white woman bedeviled by a serial killer. But at least he survives, unlike Crothers in "The Shining," in which psychic premonitions inspire him to rescue a white family he barely knows and get killed for his trouble. This heart-tug trope is parodied in Gus Van Sant's "Elephant." The film's sole black student at a Columbine-like high school arrives in the midst of a slaughter, helps a girl escape and is immediately gunned down. See what helping the white man gets you?

And what does the white man get out of the bargain? That's a question asked by John Guare in "Six Degrees of Separation," his brilliant retelling of the true saga of David Hampton — a young, personable gay con man who in the 1980s passed himself off as the son of none other than the real Sidney Poitier. Though he started small, using the ruse to get into Studio 54, Hampton discovered that countless gullible, well-heeled New Yorkers, vulnerable to the Magic Negro myth, were only too eager to believe in his baroque fantasy. (One of the few who wasn't fooled was Andy Warhol, who was astonished his underlings believed Hampton's whoppers. Clearly Warhol had no need for the accoutrement of interracial "goodwill.")

But the same can't be said of most white Americans, whose desire for a noble, healing Negro hasn't faded. That's where Obama comes in: as Poitier's "real" fake son.

The senator's famously stem-winding stump speeches have been drawing huge crowds to hear him talk of uniting rather than dividing. A praiseworthy goal. Consequently, even the mild criticisms thrown his way have been waved away, "magically." He used to smoke, but now he doesn't; he racked up a bunch of delinquent parking tickets, but he paid them all back with an apology. And hey, is looking good in a bathing suit a bad thing?

The only mud that momentarily stuck was criticism (white and black alike) concerning Obama's alleged "inauthenticity," as compared to such sterling examples of "genuine" blackness as Al Sharpton and Snoop Dogg. Speaking as an African American whose last name has led to his racial "credentials" being challenged — often several times a day — I know how pesky this sort of thing can be.

Obama's fame right now has little to do with his political record or what he's written in his two (count 'em) books, or even what he's actually said in those stem-winders. It's the way he's said it that counts the most. It's his manner, which, as presidential hopeful Sen. Joe Biden ham-fistedly reminded us, is "articulate." His tone is always genial, his voice warm and nonthreatening, and he hasn't called his opponents names (despite being baited by the media).

Like a comic-book superhero, Obama is there to help, out of the sheer goodness of a heart we need not know or understand. For as with all Magic Negroes, the less real he seems, the more desirable he becomes. If he were real, white America couldn't project all its fantasies of curative black benevolence on him.

I felt exactly the same Lisa. When Hill uttered those words, she needed to go. I can't believe that the press is giving her so much lattitude over this statement. She should not even be on the VP ticket. She's a Lady Macbeth. Talking about assassination, not once but three times is no accident, or mis-speak. But it does speak of a conniving and a deeply dark mind.

I don't buy any of that BS that she was only implying the race went on to June. She had been bragging about all the "white" votes she was getting so when takeen all this into context, there is no other conclusion that one can draw other than a death wish for Obama. We should never take lightly any talk of killing other people. It's abhorrent. Period.

And a word to Michelle Malkin and her supporters, you are even more worse scumbags, to use Bill Clinton's words. Stop spreading your hate-filled ideology. Go get a life.
