A few days ago, I received my copy of Time magazine and found that the Rev. Rob Bell, a pastor of a megachurch in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and a graduate of my alma mater, Wheaton College, had made the front cover.
I happen to believe that the kingdom of heaven advocated by Jesus, is one that He envisioned right here on earth, in our present lives, as opposed to an after-life.
The concept of hell seems to be largely a matter of authority enforcement. However if that same kind of right here on earth present life existence concept is applied to hell, then for the most unfortunate of us at least, hell can be proven to exist.
I think the invitation to us from Jesus, is to walk the talk and take the journey to enter the kingdom of heaven in our current life, in spite of the inevitible sacrifice.
