This, I suggest, is the background against which the Wikileaks papers should be viewed - one faction among our rulers realises than the war in Afghanistan is failing hopelessly, and wishes to use the military resources there being «wasted» for other purposes - namely, a war against Iran (and pressure on China). If humanity makes it through the next decade, I fear it will be due to luck rather than skill....
