I suppose this story should be inspiring, but to me it is just a very interesting account of heroism in the past which contains no valuable information for us at this time. It seems that Dr. Warren didn't want to free the colonies or die trying so much as he wanted to die trying to free the colonies. If that's not true, how can one explain his refusal to perform service to the rebellion on the level of his excellent talents instead of trying to kill a few Redcoats with a musket? Today, that freedom he died for is being sanded away to the point of irritation, and there is no defence against it, whether intelligence, talent, or weapon. We are now the Empire that seeks to exploit the common good to enrich the common criminal, and there is no "new world" for us to escape to.
