NYT Pushes Confrontation with Iran

By Robert Parry
September 11, 2010

Apparently having learned no lessons from the Iraq WMD debacle, the New York Times is pushing for a heightened confrontation with Iran, slipping into the same kind of hysteria that it and other major U.S. news organizations displayed in 2002 and 2003.

It would SEEM that at some point the US population would reject this constant Neo-con warmongering as presented by the NYT & WaPo ! After all, no matter what contrived reasons they come up with, the fact of the matter is that they're advocating that the US go to the other side of the world, bomb/kill/injure/displace 10s or 100s of thousands of people (conservatively estimating), with NO MORE than significant (to hear them tell it) hunches about what Iran MIGHT be doing or wants to do! This is very close to the bellicosity of Nazi Germany or the USSR (and they didn't go to the other side of the world!) which is not something we'll be proud to tell our grandkids about, I suspect. I keep expecting the general public here in the US to 'just say no' to the next botique war, but I fear I'll be disappointed again...

Most regrettably the New York Times, the legendary "Gray Lady", is in the year 2010 just about as objective on the issues of the day as Der Strum was in 1938. Both represent the views and policies of the government.
